OBITUARY
Beasley Williams 66, of Odessa, Texas passed from this life on January 25, 2018 at Odessa Regional Medical Center.
Beasley was born August 12, 1951 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas to Supt. Ray L. Williams and the late Mary Elizabeth Brownlee Williams. He went to school at Manchester Community School, Peake Elementary and Peake High School. He received his GED in the military. He attended Odessa College. He graduated from the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service. He worked for Martinez Funeral Home as a funeral director, embalmer and restorative artist. He retired from ECISD with 12 years of service. He married Gilda Snowden on May 23, 1969. Two sons were born from this union. He married his current wife, Clara Davis on July 16, 1994. He served two tours of Vietnam in the Marine Corps and retired with 23 years. He was a 32nd degree mason (Prince Hall affiliation) M.W.P.H.G.L. of S.C., Sons of Beaufort Masonic Lodge #36.
While in the Marine Corps, he received the Good Conduct Medal (7th Awd), Rifle Expert Badge (5th Awd), Pistol Sharpshooter Badge, Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal w/2 star, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation w/Palm & Frame, Republic of Vietnam Civil Actions, Unit Citation w/Palm & Frame, Vietnamese Campaign Medal w/Device, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal w/star, Meritorious Mast (820608), Sea Service Deployment Ribbon w/1 star, Letter of Appreciation (850614), Navy Achievement Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation and Navy Unit Commendation.
Beasley was a very talented person and excelled at whatever he attempted to do - it had to be his very best. He began playing the electric guitar at age 7 and was a master of the piano and organ. He was kind, humble and had a special "flair" about himself.
He was preceded in death by four brothers: Artis Williams, Ray Williams Jr., Joe Charles Williams and Jessie P. Newborn.
He is survived by wife, Clara Davis Williams; father, Supt. Ray L. Williams; two sons, Beasley Williams Jr. and Vincent LaTroy Williams of Portsmouth, VA; two sisters, Jean Hooks of Little Rock, Arkansas and Faye Guinn of Mesquite, Texas; one brother, Alfred Scott of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; two grandsons, Vincent Williams Jr. of Durham, North Carolina and Vi'Nia Williams of Florence, South Carolina; one granddaughter, Vontrice Williams of Atlanta, Georgia; one great grandson, King Williams of Atlanta, Georgia; one aunt in California; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and Marine Corps friends in various states.
