Ramon “Pops” Castillo went home to be with the Lord on September 21, 2021, in Odessa, Texas. Ramon was born in Franterea, Old Mexico to Felipa and Clarence Cruz on August 05, 1948. He married Nancy Castillo on February 7, 1978. Ramon was an equipment operator and foreman at Jones Brother’s Inc. for forty years before retiring. He was veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Army. He was awarded National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
Ramon is preceded in death by granddaughter Chelsea Chavez, mother Felipa Cruz, Father Clarence Cruz, sister Lupe Castillo Yepez, and brother Rudy Castillo.
Ramon enjoyed going to the bingo with his wife Nancy, playing cards with his kids, going fishing with his son and grandsons and spending time outside with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Nancy Castillo. Daughter, Maxine and husband Wolfe Barriga, son Osbaldo and wife Michele Chavez, son Theodore Chavez, son Joseph and wife Susanna Chavez, son Joshua and wife Christina Chavez. Son Jesse and wife Cheryl Castillo. Daughter Yvonne and Alex Aguilar. Sisters: Dora C. Lopez, Gloria C. Cabrera, Janie C. Black, Rosalinda C. Vargas, Consuelo C. Hillis, Bertha A. Cruz, Evanjelina. C. Morin Brothers: Luis Cruz, Clarence Cruz. Thirty-one grandchildren and Twenty-nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jesse Castillo Jr. Ryan Chavez, Bryan Chavez, Chris Chavez, Alex Aguilar Jr., Josh Chavez, Javier Snyder, Alex Chavez
The family of Ramon Castillo wishes to extend our sincere gratitude to those that have been by our side and kept us in prayer through this time. Pops was loved so much and will be truly missed.
