Richard Anthony Cerda Jr., 28 years of Odessa, passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2018 in Odessa, Texas.
Visitation will be held 9:00 am to 6:00 pm on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel and a Rosary to be held at 7:30 pm at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel with Father Timothy Hayter officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Martinez Funeral Home.
Richard was born on August 21, 1990 in Odessa, Texas to Richard Cerda Sr. and Grace Navarrette. He graduated from Odessa High School. In 2008 while attending Odessa High School he met his high school sweet heart, Olivia Santillanes. From their love became two beautiful daughters, Harlie Faith Cerda born September 3, 2008 and Richlynn Hope Cerda on October 30, 2014. His daughters were his pride and joy and most precious reasons for living.
Richard was a natural born athlete from the moment he could walk. He played a variety of sports, but he was best known for his amazing athleticism on the diamond. Baseball was his true passion. Along the way he made numerous amounts of friends who are still his side today. These boys were not only forever friends, they became family and each one of you know who you are. Richard was a loving, caring and giving gentleman willing to lend a helping hand where needed. He never met a stranger.
Richard is preceded in death by paternal grandparents Ramon B. Cerda and Teresita M. Cerda and maternal grandmother Rita H. Navarrette.
Richard is survived by his wife, Olivia Santillanes , daughters Harlie Faith Cerda and Richlynn Hope Cerda, parents Richard Anthony Cerda Sr. (Marsha) and Grace Esquivel (Johnny), brother and sisters Valerie Y Cerda (Jeff) and Ryan I. Cerda, nieces Ellie, Grace, Shirey, grandfather Manuel F. Navarrette and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles that adored him.
Pallbearers will be Adrian "AD" Hinojos, Sal M.Covos, Justin Morales, Juanito Contreras, Matthew Archuletta and Mickey Gallegos.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ryan I. Cerda and Antonio R. Alvarez
The family of Richard Anthony Cerda Jr. wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all of our friends and family. Thank you for all the thoughts, flowers and prayers during this difficult time.
