Rita Castillo

Rita Valles Castillo, 87 of Odessa passed away Saturday January 15, 2022, at Medical Center Hospital.

Rita was a warm hearted, loving, compassionate mother and grandmother. She was the life of the party and lit up the room with her presence. Rita was very forgiving and always expressed an unconditional love towards everyone. Rita always met you at her door with a cup of coffee, cigarette and a smile. Rita will be greatly missed by all who have had the honor of knowing her.

Rita was born in Sanderson, Tx to Paulino Valles Sr. and Espiridiona Maquez Valles on November 14, 1934. She married Eugenio Castillo Sr. in April of 1953 in Sanderson then moved to Odessa that same year. She owned E&R Cleaners on Dixie Blvd, for many years and was a devoted wife and caring mother to her children and grandchildren.

Rita is preceded in death by her parents; Paulino Sr. and Espiridiona Marquez Valles, husband Eugenio Castillo Sr, a daughter Leticia C. Payan, and sons; Jaime Castillo and Eugenio Castillo Jr., Brothers; Manuel Valles, Paulino Valles Jr., Francisco Valles, Genaro Valles, and her sisters; Estella V. Ramos, and Trinidad V. Olivarez.

She is survived by daughters; Martha Castillo and Suzan Empero of Odessa, sister Ladislada Valles of Odessa, and longtime companion Robert Joe Gonzales of Odessa, and her pet dog Teddy.

Rita also leaves to cherish her memory, several grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Tuesday January 25, 2022, from 1:00pm – 9:00pm at Martinez Funeral Home with a service of remembrance at 6:00pm.

Funeral Services are set for Wednesday January 26, 2022, at 10:00am at Martinez Funeral Home with Reverend Mario Martinez officiating.

Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
