Robert Anthony Reyes, 63, of Odessa, passed away on March 14, 2025, in Odessa, Texas.
Visitation will be Wednesday March 19, 2025 from 5:00-9:00 p.m. with Rosary starting at 7:00 p.m., and Thursday, March 20, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Martinez Funeral Home West and Crematory 10137 W University Blvd., Odessa, Texas 79764.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 21, 2025 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church with Fr. Francis Onyekozuru of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton officiating. Arrangements are by Martinez Funeral Home West and Crematory.
Robert was born in Odessa to Carlos and Mary Reyes on August 13, 1961. He went to school at Ector High School and loved cars, music, jokes, firearms, RC vehicles, weather-spotting, working with kids, and watching classic TV. He was a DJ for many years in Odessa, first with KQIP, then KODM, KBAT, KUFO, KMCM, and Classic 102. He also worked many years for Permian Music Company and then NTUNE as an instrument repair specialist, and most recently served as a Corporal Security Officer, Field Training Officer, and Bike Patrol Officer for the last 15 years at Music City Mall. Prior to Music City Mall, he worked for years with MISD and UTPB in security to keep students safe. He volunteered for many years with the Odessa Police Department’s Citizens on Patrol and Teddy Bear Patrol programs; Odessa Crimestoppers’ McGruff Crime Dog; and many other areas of the community. He was also a certified National Weather-Spotter and could often be found chasing storm cells throughout the Permian Basin. His main goal in life was to keep the community safe and to serve others. He received many awards and commendations for his service to Odessa and the surrounding areas.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Carlos and Mary Reyes, and his brother, Benjamin Reyes.
Robert is survived by brother Carlos Reyes, Jr. and wife Victoria; sister Martha Montemayor; nephews Benjamin Reyes, Jr. and Roger Montemayor; nieces Sandra Reyes and Tara Ward and husband Doss; great-nephews Brayden and Alexander Ward and great-nieces Sophia and Emma Ward. He loved all kids, especially his nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Benjamin Reyes, Jr., Roger Montemayor, Doss Ward, Alexander Ward, Marc Contreras, and honorary pallbearer Robert Lujan with son Chris Lujan.
