Robert Ross (Bob) Howard age 71 of Odessa passed away December 11, 2018, at his home.
Bob was born June 28, 1946, in San Antonio, Texas to Ross Howard and Madlyn M Davis.
Bob graduated from Alamo Heights High School in San Antonio in 1964. He later
Attended San Antonio Junior College. He then joined the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves receiving a
Honorable Discharge upon completing his term of service.
In 1969 he began his studies at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. He began a work study
Program where he worked one semester with the U.S. Treasury Department as an Assistant Bank
Examiner. The next semester he would take classes to complete his degree. He earned a BBA,
Finance in May 1972. Bob continued to work with the FDIC for the next couple of years.
In 1976 he began working in banking as an auditor and loan administration. He worked with several
Banks in the Odessa/Midland area until he retired in 1996.
Bob was very active in community work. He was in the JC's for a while. He served in the Odessa
Chuck Wagon Gang for years and held many different offices in that organization. He also became
a Mason and earned his 32nd Degree. He became a member of the Scottish Rite and later became
a Shriner. Bob was very active in the Odessa Shrine Club and was in everything from cooking to
tending bar. After several years working in the Shrine Club Bob was invited to join the Jesters,
Bob is survived by one sister Sharon and one niece and friend Margie David. His Mother, Father,
And younger sister Sheila preceded him in death.
