Ruth Moorehead 71, was born on September 4, 1952, in San Antonio, Texas, to Ramon and Georgia Galvan Sierra. She was part of a large family, with 6 sisters and 9 brothers. For Ruth, family was her mission and faith in her superpower. Nothing meant more in this world to Ruth than her family, and she was never happier than when she was surrounded by her siblings, children, and grandchildren. Ruth's devotion knew no bounds; she would do anything for her loved ones. Never was a night ended without her praying for everyone in her family, and never a day where she didn't take time to call and check in with at least a handful of her family.
Ruth dedicated her life to raising her children, embodying the role of both mother and father with remarkable strength. Once her children were raised, she took a monumental role in helping with the upbringing of her grandchildren. However, Ruth's need to care and nurture did not stop with those related in the traditional sense. Ruth was born with too much love for just her relatives. Throughout her life, Ruth took anyone who needed kindness, love, and prayer into her arms and into her heart. For Ruth, family was not defined by blood; family was anyone who needed guidance in this hard world.
While Ruth may have never had the benefit of a formal education, her wisdom could not be denied. Ruth understood the way the world worked, and even more, she understood how to live a life of peace and happiness even through the darkest times. Ruth did not have an easy life; she worked tirelessly to provide for her children. She worked long hours to provide just enough to keep her children going. She said many times if it was not for the kindness of family and friends, she would not have been able to provide as well as she had. This kindness from family and friends touched Ruth in a way that stayed with her her whole life. It shaped her character and once she was able to, she repaid that kindness and generosity to the world tenfold.
Ruth struggled to play the role of both mother and father to her children. While she never found stability in a partner, she found a partner in God. She leaned on God her entire life, putting her faith in Him, knowing if she continued to work hard and live life in His glory, He would always provide a path for her to walk. Ruth shared this wisdom with anyone who needed it. If she saw anyone who looked like they were lost, Ruth would do anything in her power to show them the way. From delivery people to store clerks to the friends of her children and grandchildren, Ruth was never too busy to lend an ear to hear your problems, a shoulder to cry on, or arms to hold you when you needed it the most. She shared her faith freely to anyone who would listen and didn't mind if she lit a Winston while she talked.
Most people leave this world, if they are lucky, with a few children and a few dozen grandchildren. Ruth left behind hundreds. While they may not have all been born from her beloved children Jesse, Cassie, Joe, Cameron, Teresa, & Bert, hundreds of people will miss their Grandma Ruth.
