Sonia Ortega Baca, 39, of Odessa, passed away on April 7th in Odessa, Texas. Sonia was born in Odessa to Lidio Ortega and Gualadupe Ortega on May 16th, 1985. She went to school at Permian High School and also attended the University of the Permian Basin, where she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and Spanish. She worked as a Rebel Plant coordinator for Energy Transfer.
Sonia gave one hundred percent to everything she set her heart on. She always put others needs before her own, especially her children’s. She loved unconditionally. Sonia was intelligent, outgoing and full of spice. She had no problem letting that spicy latina out and telling you how it was especially if she knew you needed it and it would help you grow. She was the best counselor as well as a great listener. She loved reading her daily devotionals and listening to worship. We pray that her legacy and the love she had for Jesus lives on in the hearts of all her children and the people that she leaves behind.
Sonia is preceded in death by her mother, Guadalupe Ortega Cano, and both paternal and maternal grandparents.
Sonia is survived by her children Xavier Cervantes and Sophia Baca, as well as her stepchildren Alex Baca, Isiah Baca, Irie Baca and Aliyaha Baca, her sisters Veronica Espino, Marisol Araujo, brothers Edmundo Ortega and Rene Ortega as well as her father Lidio Ortega and her beloved Tiffany Huddleston, brother-in-law Carlos Araujo and sister-in-law Tina Smith and many nieces and nephews.
