Talmadge Lee Washington Jr.

Talmadge Lee Washington Jr., age 70, passed away peacefully from this life on Saturday, July 27, 2024. Talmadge Lee Washington Jr. was born July 28, 1953, in Lubbock, TX to the late Talmadge Lee Washington Sr. and Jessie Lee O’Quinn Matthews. He attended public school in the Lubbock school district. He took on the trade of carpentry and was a very good carpenter. It would be safe to say he was a jack of all trades.

Later he met and married the love of his life Maria Ester Padilla. In 1999 they moved to Odessa, TX. He accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior, and he loved to sing and worship Him. After moving to Odessa, TX, he united with Greater St. John Baptist Church.

Talmadge was employed by Williams Paving until his health began to fail him earlier this year. He was a dedicated worker and was committed to providing for his family. He was a great husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He is preceded in death by his parents, son Cornelius Jabar Washington, daughter Tamara Washington, and brother Cornelius Washington.

Talmadge leaves to cherish his memory wife Maria Washington; 3 sons Wilton Washington, Talmadge Washington III and William Washington; 5 daughters Roxanne Koss, Rosanne Isham, Jessica Soto, ReeNee Washington, and Jessica Washington; 14 sisters Sirretha Maxwell, Mary Richards, Lavern Bibbs, Cynthia Johnson, Valda Gale Matthews, Rita Kaye Matthews, Vickie Matthews, Shontel Washington, Illest Washington, Lysandra Washington, Lynda Washington, Shanika Washington, Patra Washington and Lonnie Washington; 8 brothers Keith Matthews, Willest Washington, Shaloyd Washington, Will Washington, Jervack Washington, Jedidah Washington, Jered Washington, and Jethro Washington; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

The visitation is set for Wednesday July 31, 2024, from 1pm-9pm with a wake service at 6pm at Martinez Funeral Home chapel.

Funeral services are set for 10am Thursday August 1, 2024, at Greater St. John’s Baptist Church 212 S Muskingum Ave Odessa, Tx 79761 with Rev. E. J. Miller officiating.

Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens 6801 E, I-20BL Odessa, Tx 79762.
