Tomas Mata

Tomas Mata, 92, of Odessa, passed away Friday, June 28, 2013 at Sienna Nursing Home. He was born May 7, 1921 in Mexico to Guillermo and Marina Flores Mata. He was a welders helper and a Catholic.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Eudolia Juarez Mata son, Guillermo J. Mata parents, Guillermo and Marina Mata and sisters, Manuela Tarango, Josefina Bejarano Eufemia Tarango Cresencia Mata and Antonia Mata.

He is survived by his sons, Inocente Mata of Freeport and Tomas J. Mata and Heriberto Mata, both of Odessa daughters, Bertha Olivia Medrano of Pecos, Maria de Jesus Madrid and Antonia Martinez both of Odessa, Guadalupe Chavarria of Houston, Georgina Fuentes of Midland, and Rosario Mata Biggerstaff of Austin brothers, Ismael Mata, Demetrio Mata, and Manuel Olivas, all of Chihuahua, Mexico sisters, Paula Lujan of Gilmer and Luz Hernandez of Chihuahua, Mexico 31 grandchildren 47 greatgrandchildren and 5 greatgreat grandchildren. Visitation will be Saturday, June 29, 2013 and Sunday, June 30, 2013 from 9 AM 9 PM at MartinezSmith Funeral Chapels with the Rosary being recited Sunday evening at 7 PM. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 1, 2013 at 2 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Frank Chavez officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill section of the Ector County Cemetery.
