Victor D. Melgoza

Victor Daniel Melgoza,84, entered his eternal rest and into the arms of our Lord, November 24, 2024 in the comfort of his home in Odessa, Tx.

Victor was born in Brownsville, TX on January 4, 1940, to the late Victor C. Melgoza and Catalina De La Rosa. The Second of five children, he spent his earlier years living in Alpine, TX, where he worked to help his family and joined the Army Reserve, proudly serving until 1965.He soon would start a family and move to Odessa, TX. Victor could be considered a “Jack of all Trades”, enjoying taking things apart and learning how to fix just about anything, such as electronics and cars, instilling a mechanical creativity that would overpour into his children and grandchildren. He was a self-proclaimed Master Griller, who few would argue against once they tried his BBQ. Victors love for the Lord was instilled in him as a child and he would carry that with him all his days, Encouraging and teaching others about God’s love.

Victor would later meet the love of his life, V.Ester Henson, and the two would marry on December 31,1988 in Odessa, TX, they would enrich each other’s life for the next 35 years. Victor had a strong work ethic that excelled him in the fields of insurance, oil and gas, and working with ECISD where he enjoyed driving the bus until he retired.

Victor is preceded in death by his parents, Victor C. and Catalina Melgoza and his siblings, Joel Melgoza, Epifanio Melgoza and Conchita Fuentes.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, V. Ester Melgoza of Odessa, TX. His sons, Dan S. Melgoza (Jackie) of Corinth, TX, Xavier C. Melgoza (Reeni) of Creedmoor, NC, Victor Daniel Melgoza Jr. of Odessa, TX. Marcus Baty (Valerie) of Madison, AL, Timothy Deboskie (Thurayya) of El Paso, TX, and William (Bill)Baty (Trivia) of Odessa, TX. His daughters, Brenda M. Ortiz (Daniel) of Andrews, TX, and Michelle M. Alvarado (A.J) of Odessa, TX. 26 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Including a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Visitation is scheduled for Monday December 2, 2024 from 1pm till 9 pm, with a prayer service in the evening at 7pm at Martinez Funeral Home, 1040 S. Dixie, Odessa, TX 79761.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Tuesday December 3, 2024, at Restoration Church Assemblies of God, 1821 E. Yukon Rd. Odessa, TX 79762. With Pastor Josue Maldonado officiating.
