Weldon Lee Watkins, 83, of Odessa, Texas, passed away on September 16, 2013.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 28th, 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Prague, Oklahoma.
Weldon was born in Paden, Oklahoma to Lee Roy Nye Watkins on May 5, 1930. He attended school at Centerview, Oklahoma. He married Rose Marie Pospisil on March 19, 1954 in Prague, Oklahoma. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the Army. He had begun his career with PGAC in 1954 and retired from Dresser Industries after 25 years. He was owner of Permian Perforators, Inc. and Ace Perforators, Inc. and retired at age 76. He was a member of Highland United Methodist Church.
Weldon is preceded in death by his parents, Lee Roy Nye Watkins, and brother Don Watkins.
Weldon is survived by his wife, Rose Marie Watkins, daughter and soninlaw, Wenda and Terry Kelly of Odessa, Texas, son and daughterinlaw, Chris and Angie Watkins of Conway, Arkansas, sister and brotherinlaw: Louise and Lavon Coomer of Prague, Oklahoma, brothers and sisterinlaws: Kenneth and Jane Watkins of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Max and JoAnn Watkins of Meeker, Oklahoma, James and Bethie Watkins of Prague, Oklahoma and granddaughters, Stephanie Kelly of Austin, Texas, Ivy Watkins and Jorja Watkins of Conway Arkansas.
Weldon began his Masonic career in 1963 at Woodward Lodge 189 in Woodward, Oklahoma. He continued his love for the fraternity by serving as Master of Fellowship Lodge 1385 and Andy G. Vaughn 1421 both in Odessa, TX. He also belonged to Milam Lodge 11 in Lamesa, TX. He was a member of Floyd Easterling 1385 Odessa, TX. His loyalties to the fraternity also lead him to be an active member in the El Paso and Lubbock Scottish Rites. He received the honor of the KCCH in the El Paso, TX Scottish Rite. He belonged to the York Rite also. Weldon was a member of El Maida Shrine Temple in El Paso, TX and was a member of the Odessa Shrine Club as well. Weldon experienced the distinct honor of serving as the District Deputy Grand Master of the 82nd Masonic District in 20022003. In 2005 Weldon was once again honored by being appointed to serve as the Grand Senior Steward of the Grand Lodge of Texas AFAM. Weldon served in many additional offices and received many honors not mentioned, but his greatest honor was serving the fraternity and spreading the message of Hope, Faith, Charity, and brotherly love. Memorials may be given to the Scottish Rite Hospital.
