Wendell Campbell left this life, Monday December 8th, after a long, difficult fight with emphysema.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1pm Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor and close friend Jimmy Dennis officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Martinez Funeral Home.
He was born in Haskell, Texas July 16, 1938 to Joyce Littlepage Campbell. He moved to Odessa in 1946. Served his country in the Army Signal Corps and returned to Odessa and worked in auto sales until becoming a Realtor in 1967 while also building homes.
Wendell spent the remainder of his professional career in commercial and industrial real estate where he excelled. After owning his own business for years, he became Commercial Sales Manager at Trower Realtors Inc. since 1980, a longtime member of the Odessa Chamber of Commerce and Odessa Board of Realtors. Wendell was President of the Odessa Board of Realtors in 1977 and Realtor of the Year in 1980.
He and wife Capel, also a Realtor, enjoyed a business on the side Incredibles Nite club which sold in 2003, and still enjoyed the personal relationships forged during the six years of operation. Wendell was an enthusiastic member of the Odessa Chuckwagon Gang since 1976 awarded the Wagonmasters Award until the last few years when he became unable to participate due to his advanced disease.
Wendell is survived by a loving family, his wife Capel, his daughter Lisa Davidson and husband Davy Davidson of Ft Worth , grand daughter Jennifer Gastalum and husband Carlos of Ft. Worth, grandson Daniel Davidson and great granddaughter Emma of Las Cruces NM, sson John Perez, daughter Patty Eicher and partner Ricky McCollum of Odessa, grandsons, Jarrod Eicher, Jake Eicher, Jordan Eicher Linnenkugel and husband Nick Linnenkugel of Lubbock and great grandsons Indy and Hudson Linnenkugel, grandson Caelen Campbell son of W. Wayne Campbell and many friends, most importantly Amy and Brent Rhodes, JR Gonzalez, and Kirk Strahan and his special coffe buddies Dean Beeman, Eddy Erwin and Gordon Erwin, happy hour buddies Frankie Love Villegas and Sonny Rodriguez. Wendell had a very special appreciation for Dr. Ghanta his pulmonologist. Wendell is preceded in death by his son Wendell Wayne Campbell, his Mother Joyce Littlepage Campbell and Brother Bill Campbell. The family would like to express great appreciation to Home Hospice for their excellent care of Wendell.
