William L. "Weaver" Hill 55 of Odessa passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born on September 5, 1959 in Hale Center, Tx to the late Robert Hill and Dorothy Swearengin-Hill. Weaver married his high school sweetheart Mary Alice Bass on November 14, 1979. He was a member of St. Matthew Baptist Church where he served as Trustee and sang in the male Chorus.
He graduated from Ector High School in 1978 and attended Sul Ross State University where he played basketball for one season. He also was a member of the 1976 Ector High School State Basketball Team.
He was employed by American Eagle (Envoy Air) for 14 ½ years until his health failed. Before joining the American Eagle team he was employed by the Boys & Girls Club Woodson Unit for 10 years where he loved working and mentoring the youth in the community.
Weaver coached football, Basketball, and officiated sporting events for over 25 years. His hobbies included playing basketball, coaching his grandson Deonte (the Vikings football team), decorating at Christmas, watering his grass and wiping the "Paint" off his vehicles. Mr. Weaver had his on famous quote "Keep It Real".
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Tricia Swearington and a nephew Jermaine Swearington.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 35 years Mary A. Hill of Odessa; son Sheldon R. Bass Sr. (Kizzie aka 'Kinzie"), daughter DeShonna D. Hill all of Odessa, TX. Sister Annie Bea Ellis of Odessa, TX; brother Johnny Carl Hill (Wilma) of Munday, TX, Marshall Lee Hill, Billy Ray Hill Sr. (Donna) and Clyde Earl Hill all of Odessa, TX. Grandchildren Tatanesha Fleming, Shelbie Bass, Sheldon R. Bass Jr., Deonte Bass and Jayden "J-Bone" Bass; Aunts: Rosie Rigsby of Oakland, CA., Linda McCrary of Knox City; Uncles: William Swearengin (Avery); Lueroy Swearengin (Shirley) all of Midland, TX; Godmother; Rosie Morris of Houston TX; Godfather; Tommey Morris and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Wake will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Martinez Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on May 21, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. Matthews Baptist Church, 809 Barrett Ave., Odessa, Texas with Rev. Christopher T. Redden officiating. Interment will follow at Ector County Cemetery Peaceful Garden Sect.
