Bill King, 79, of Odessa passed away on August 17th at Medical Center Hospital.
Services for Bill King are as follows: Visitation will begin on Wednesday, August 20th at 12:00 P.M. at MartinezSmith Funeral Home. On Thursday, August 21st visitation is all day. Thursday evening at 7:00 P.M. at MartinezSmith there will be a prayer vigil with Father Les of St. Johns Episcopal Church officiating. Mass will be held at St. Johns Episcopal Church on 4th and West County Rd on August 22nd at 10:00 A.M with Father Les officiating. Burial is to follow after mass.
Bill King was born in Wichita, KS to William Henry King Sr. and Mildred Van Fossen. He attended school there and graduated from North High School in Kansas. He was an excellent football player there. Bill also attended Kansas State University and Odessa College where he obtained his law enforcement degree. He married Gloria King on November 12th 1985 in Odessa. Bill King worked as a law enforcer with the Sheriffs Department for many years. Most recently, Bill King worked as a car salesman for Sewell Ford. This was his second family and his second home. It gave him the ability to do what he did best, greet and meet new people and build relationships that have lasted throughout his years. Bill King was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the Navy. He was involved in many clubs throughout his lifetime, which included Optimist Club, The Dynamic Odessa Grandview Lions Club, Goldwing Road Riders, The Food Pantry and many more. Bill King was a very proud member of St. Johns Episcopal Church. He donated his time graciously to whatever was in need.
Bill King was survived by his wife Gloria King and his children: Russel King, Don King, Nancy Jo Lopez of Kansas, Will King, Jeff King, Lupita Cleary and Maria Terry Lopez. Sisters include: Shirley Collier, Norma King. All respectable spouses included. Bill king also had 20 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Russel King, Don King, Will King, Jeff King, Bill Lopez and Warren Koepp
Arrangements are made by MartinezSmith Funeral Home. The family would like to express any flowers or arrangements are more than welcome and appreciated however, Bill King was very active in The Food Pantry through St. Johns Episcopal Church, donations are certainly appreciated to The Food Pantry on his behalf.
